Jennifer Garner is a West Virginia native, born in Houston on the 17th of April, 1972. The father of Jennifer Garner, William John Garner, worked as a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner, the mother of Patricia Ann, taught at the local college. She received her degree in chemical engineering to emulate her father. To fulfill her ambition to be an actor, she decided to move into New York and try her attempt at acting in Hollywood. When she was not appearing in Broadway productions, she also worked as a waitress. She had a cameo role in the show "Felicity." (It it was on that show where she first met her husband Scott Foley.) Garner had her first big role with "13 going on thirty" the romantic comedy which was well-received. She played a teenage girl who was trapped within the body of an adult. Garner chose Gary Winick as the director of her movie. The team continued to look for roles until Winick's passing in the year 2011. Garner was appointed artist ambassador in 2011 by Save the Children U.S.A. In addition to promoting early education, literacy as well as nutrition at a local level, the role of Garner is also to promote nationwide literacy. Garner is a board member for this nonprofit organization since 2014. She promotes early childhood education. Being a part of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) team of ambassadors for the program Garner has visited families on a regular basis to provide them with strategies to encourage their young children to succeed.
